Our porch needed an extreme makeover. The paint had faded and the furniture needed to be changed. I quickly made the necessary arrangements for the repairs. I hired our trusty contractor who had been very reliable. As his crew took care of the repainting and replacing of the planks and boards, I busied myself with buying the new outdoor furniture and outdoor furniture covers. I was able to locate a sale at wicker.com outdoor furniture. They had a wide array of models and styles. My daughter helped me pick out the perfect furniture for our backyard. We also bought some new lighting systems and fixtures that would allow us to enjoy our porch even at night.
The makeover was finished ahead of schedule. The new lights have all been installed. The new furniture were delivered just as the repairs were completed. The crew helped us set the furniture. My grandchildren have new play area. They have just started to walk and the soft grass is just perfect for their practice walks. We’ve had a few dinners and lunches in our wonderful porch. My granddaughters have been enjoying our garden. The makeover was perfectly timed as spring had just set in. We’re enjoying the cool and sunny weather while we lazily lounge around in our backyard.
I have to give it to my husband for never missing out on something new but very useful. While browsing through the many aisles of the home improvement section of a mall, he chanced upon this new wireless doorbells. It’s labeled as “new arrival”. There were other gadgets there but his one caught his eye. For years, he’s been complaining about how wires on our doorbell easily get busted. The elements and even ants eat these wires. A wireless doorbell would not give him this problem at all. There are no wires the will go bad in just a matter of months.
He asked one of the staff to demonstrate how it works. The staff even showed him how easy it is to install. He was quickly sold and bought four doorbells, two for the gates and two for the doors. We have a front and rear gates and also a front and rear doors. He took out the old conventional doorbells and pulled out all the wire. The new doorbells were easy to install and my husband had them working in no time. They looked neat and sound great. I suppose I would never here him growl in frustration over busted wires ever again.
My son’s batch just launched a new club, Historical Society. They’ re basically a group that would study and promote local historical sites and history. They’ll be helping the community’s tourism board as well as help preserve local historical landmarks. Together with other parents, we helped design a Cool Vest for their club. We had fun and the kids loved their Cool Vests. It had a very nice logo embroidered on the back. They have started collecting old pictures from as far back the turn of the century.
A small part of the group is in the process of building different dioramas depicting the evolving life of the early settlers to the present residents. They’re pulling all stops, every small detail will be included in the dioramas. Local officials and some of the businesses have pledged to construct a small museum to house the dioramas and artifacts.
The club has generated quite an awareness and following. Families are donating items for the museum. They intend to develop a tourist program. This will generate additional revenue for our place as well as the shops and hotel. We cannot thank these kids enough for the love and effort they put into this project. The have a club that will have a huge impact on everybody. Who would have thought that these kids have bigger plans for our place.
